Doritos Dance shoot this Saturday!

Hi all, just a quick update for those who’ve checked out the dance vid, or have been referred here by someone they know. We’re shooting a dance video for the Doritos ‘Make an ad, make a fortune’ competition THIS SATURDAY, 10th July from 10am-1pm. We’ll be out of there 1pm sharp ’cause we only have permission to shoot til then.

The shoot will be at Sadler Reserve in Williamstown on The Esplanade (near Williamstown Beach Station for those catching the train). Melways Ref: 56 B11.

We’re going to be there from 9:30 to go through the dance with anyone who isn’t confident they know it. Anyone who has already learned it can just turn up five minutes before 10am. We’ll start shooting right on 10am.

We need everyone to wear the brightest clothes they have. Make sure you don’t wear branded clothing (Billabong, Roxy etc) or clothes with fine patterns (stripes, checks, plaid, etc), but otherwise anything colourful and warm will be great (and feel free to accessorize, unbranded hats, scarves, gloves, will all be good) . We’ll bring a few extra things on the day for people who aren’t sure if they have something. Bottoms wise, jeans or coloured pants are cool.

Make sure you eat before you come, and just so people know – the closest toilets are about a 10 minute walk from the reserve.

We’re still looking for more people, so if you know anyone who’s interested in coming, bring them along and have some fun. The only thing is, the competition has a rule where everyone on camera must be 14 or older, so make sure whoever you bring is older than that. Also if you’re under 18, you’ll need signed parental consent BEFORE you can be in the ad so send us an email (smalltownmoviestuff@gmail.com) and we’ll email you a parental permission form to bring on the day. Also everyone in the ad will have to sign a release form before the shoot commences (we’ll have them with us on the day).

Thanks guys, can’t wait to see everyone on the day. It should be a really good time!

Dance for Doritos Ad Competition

We are currently in the process of planning our ad for the new Doritos “Make An Ad, Make A Fortune” Competition (check out the ad we entered last year here) and, this year, our ad is going to include a dance sequence! So we are eager to recruit anyone who is willing and able to shake their booty in front of a camera for a couple of hours…sounds like a tonne of fun, eh? We think it will be!

Today we shot a quick tutorial video for the dance that will be performed in the ad (hopefully, by dozens and dozens of people!) and have uploaded it below. Feel free to check it out. :D

If you want to be involved (and are in Melbourne and available on Saturday, July 10th), send us an email at: smalltownmoviestuff@gmail.com.

More updates to come!

UPDATE 27/06/2010: Hi all! Just re-uploaded the instructional video with a few minor changes for clarity. The dance remains the same though (in case you’ve already learned it ;D )

Welcome to our new website

Mark has been working long and hard on revamping our website (as you can see). Make sure you take advantage of all the new features – subscribe to our newsletter, follow us on twitter, read about our movies, and watch some of our work (especially our new trailer for our latest movie ‘The Least Damnedest Thing‘). Feel free to leave us a comment on our blog and tell us what you think.

Soon we will be shooting an ad for the Doritos ‘Make An Ad’ competition. (You can watch the ad we entered last year by following the ‘Movies‘ link in the menu, and clicking on ‘Extras‘). We thought we would use this competition as an opportunity to practice shooting a group dance sequence, so we are looking for lots and lots of people who want to dance and, possibly, end up on TV! So, if you’re in Melbourne and you’re interested in being part of what could potentially be the funnest day of your life, email us at smalltownmoviestuff@gmail.com.

The Least Damnedest Thing trailer is up!

Hi all, I’ve just uploaded The Least Damnedest Thing trailer to YouTube and Vimeo for your viewing pleasure. Hopefully everyone’ll dig it. If you really do like it, or even if you just wanna help out, it’d be great if you could check the links at both YouTube and Vimeo to get our view totals up, and if you’re extra awesome, you can also comment on it and tell your friends!

Cheers all, thanks again to everyone who was in and helped on the movie and thanks to everyone who checks it out. Looking forward to meeting you all soon!

Hope you like it :D Bye for now.

You watched it, you can’t unwatch it!

The Least Damnedest Thing has officially been screened! We had a private screening for the cast and crew on Monday, April 5th 2010 at the Tribal Theatre in Brisbane. Except for one minor glitch (which we will henceforth block from our memories), the screening went off without a hitch (thankyou to Kris and Sam at the Tribal Theatre for being so accomodating).

It was a beautiful venue (the oldest independent theatre in Brisbane) and perfect for the screening of a local independent feature. We are so glad so many people were able to come – we hope everyone enjoyed seeing their hard work displayed on the big screen!

We are so proud and thankful to everyone who worked on and was a part of The Least Damnedest Thing. We are also extremely thankful to everyone who has offered us (and the actors and crew) support along the way. As cliche as it is to say, we couldn’t have done it without you.

Now, we are looking forward to entering Damnedest into festivals and seeing what strangers from around the world have to say about our newest micro-budget movie.

The final Damn(edest) push!

Candice and I have been working crazy hard to get the movie finished for the past week or so now (she’s been on holidays from work since Saturday and I have since Wednesday). It’s seriously nearing completion which is a relief. It’s nice seeing it coming together at long last.

I sent out screeners to Az and Bart for scoring on Friday and Adam has been nutting away at the score for the past week and a bit in our living room too. They’re going to be working hard and fast so that I can hopefully get onto the final mix as early as next week.

That’s pretty much all the news for now. As always, if you want more regular updates on ‘The Least Damnedest Thing‘, the best place to go is my twitter page @markdeere. Hopefully the next time I update here, the movie will be done and maybe the site will finally get a (long overdue) make-over for what will hopefully be a really exciting year for us.

That took a while

So we’ve finished the dialogue editing and have moved on to foley. As I always say we’re getting closer to having the movie done. We’ll keep working constantly and should be sending out screeners soon.

Anyone looking for more regular updates for ‘The Least Damnedest Thing’ can follow me on twitter here (I update with ‘Damnedest’ info every couple of days or so on average) and also check out our Facebook fan page. More updates as they come.

A Quick Update

So here’s a quick update on where we’re at. The movie’s coming together nicely and hopefully shouldn’t be too far off. We’re heading to Brisbane this weekend for a final ADR session. Then it’s the last of the sound design, and a render of the final master.

It’s not too far off now people. I’m so excited about getting everyone involved in the test screenings and am also planning something really special for the opening night. More info soon.

For other updates, feel free to join our ‘The Least Damnedest Thing’ Facebook fan page here. Til next time.

Going to Gympie tomorrow

Hey all! So we’ve been working furiously on the post production of ‘The Least Damnedest Thing‘ and it’s getting really close to being complete. If I had to guess I’d say we’re a month, maybe two, away from having it complete. We’ve basically been working around the clock on the post-production in the hope we can start getting into festivals this year. So hopefully if we can get the movie done by mid-May we should still be in with a good chance of getting some ’09 screenings.

Tonight I’ll be lining up a massive render list that’ll probably take around four days to render. I’d been holding off on starting it ’cause I knew Candice and I were going to Gympie tomorrow to meet filmmaker and author Chris Jones. We’re pretty excited about it. So yeah, we’ll start the renders, and come home to an almost complete online of the movie (just a few scenes left to iron bugs out of), then it’ll be onto sound post.

For anyone who hasn’t joined yet, I’ve started a facebook fan page for the movie. Become a fan here. That’s it for now, will report back soon.
